High-class ski opening at the diamond of the alps!

Obergurgl-Hochgurgl kicks off the new winter and ski season already on 17 November. It’s not quite surprising as the winter resort is known as Europe’s highest parish village, ranking among the Alps’ snow-surest ski regions. As well the opening program features highlights in a row: from 17 to 26 November glittering parties, top-notch music and ultimate fun in the snow are scheduled above 3000 meters altitude. Take a closer look at our Ski Opening Guide and you won’t miss any attraction!

First-class slope conditions

And off you go on Thursday, 17 November – when the Obergurgl-Hochgurgl winter ski area will be officially opened. You better get ready to hit the immaculate slopes!

The current snowfalls coupled with low temperatures during the last weeks, ideal for snow-making devices, guarantee splendid conditions on the ski slopes! About 90% of all ski lifts and ski runs will go into operation – doorstep skiing and top-to-bottom skiing included. Take a look at the current images and snow conditions.

Glittering parties, chapter 1

There is no better place to cheer on the new winter season than the Bayern 1 Ski Opening Party held on Friday, 18 November at the unrivaled “Winter Palace” of Obergurgl’s indoor riding hall. Music acts include the popular TROGLAUER party band from 9.00 pm.

On Saturday, 19 November, the party will continue at the fun-packed Musical Hut Rally on skis – wedeling from one quaint mountain hut to the next. At 1.00 pm you get together for a live concert at Hohe Mut Alm and Top Mountain Star. In the evening from 9.00 pm, you shouldn’t miss the second part of the Bayern 1 Ski Opening Party in the riding hall – featuring Bayern 1 Band and Bayern 1 DJ!

Carving fun where ski stars do their training units

Germany’s DSV athlete Fritz Dopfer has chosen Obergurgl-Hochgurgl as his personal training spot, looking forward to the upcoming slalom and giant slalom races on occasion of the Ski World Championships of St.Moritz. A couple of days ago he tried and tested himself the perfect snow conditions – simply watch the video (in German).

Accompanied by local experts of “Skischule Obergurgl” you can join a free ski guiding adventure on the tracks of Fritz Dopfer by exploring his training slopes. The ski guiding takes place on Monday, 21 November and Thursday, 24 November from 10.00 am – advance booking is required!

Glittering parties, chapter 2

Here we go again! On Friday, 25 November the fabulous Wochenblatt Opening Party is scheduled at the “Winter Palace” from 9.00 pm – featuring Bavaria’s highly popular BLECHBLOS’N band. Admission is free!

On Saturday, the party marathon slowly comes to an end with the marvelous Hut Rally in the ski area and another opening party at the “Winter Palace” – featuring KEEP COOL, which is also the ultimate slogan of this evening from 9.00 pm. Admission is free!

Après-Ski is a must for every Ski Opening!

Jovial après-ski hours are the order of the day – also thanks to the highly motivated Nederhütte team, accompanied by the best après-ski hits performed live by the Nederlumpen band.

Dance through the afternoon but take into account that you still have to conquer the floodlit top-to-bottom ski run. Marvelous après-ski parties are scheduled at Nederhütte on Fri 18.11, Sat 19.11, Mon 21.11, Wed 23.11, Fri 25.11 and Sat 26.11.
